Rasťo Bibza was born on April 28, 1968 in Bratislava. He started to draw as a child and has tried various styles since then. He puts all of his energy into the automatic creative process, which plays a central role for him and reflects his urge to create. His topics are limited to the following: vessels, heads, figures and individualized still life. Their colors are reduced to tone nuances and their particular combinations are influenced by his mood. When stressed, his palette is dark and during calmer periods, gets brighter. Even though his paintings within each cycle appear identical, we can recognize individual differences after careful study. It is unknown why is Rasťo is fascinated by motifs he continual repeats. Is he trying to send us a message? The monotony of his themes and styles gives a strange tension to his paintings. Rasťo’s other big hobby is astronomy. He likes reading about stars and watching the night sky.
