Sylvia Mikolášková was born on June 21, 1977 in Trenčín. Similarly to most of the artists in the LMH collection, she also started to create as an adult. She says that her art is a “dialogue between myself and the image and between my outer and inner universe.” Her works are a colorful mixture of specific and abstract elements that are not afraid of any feeling, mood or emotion. Sylvia’s inspiration comes from everyday situations: her home, town, walking in the nature, dreams and memories… Apart from the selection of topic, color is the most important element in her work. Sylvia continually explores new color compositions and combinations. She often uses contrasts and bold outlines that unify her work and provide an expressive appeal. She frequently plays with various symbols – not only in her paintings, but also in their titles, such as Visit from Japan, Man with the Pipe, or Appetite for Strawberry Ice-cream.
